We have friends who are assuming they will bring their kids to the wedding. We do NOT want these particular children to attend (major behavioral issues). Some other friends will attend with their family and the youngest child is 11 -- no problems with this family. The difficult family's children are 11 and under. Is it impossible to have the one family with their 11 yr old and older girls and not the other family's children? Is it appropriate to have something in the invitation that says "No children except relatives" (neither of these families are relatives) or something along those lines? Sorry if this is confusing!

I'm getting married this May, and my evening wedding is going to be downtown, outside in our city square (sort of a "city" theme). My dress is diamond white with a café accent around the hips, and it has a semi-cathedral train. Would it be appropriate for my fiancé and his groomsmen to wear white/ivory tuxedos? Would it look cheesy or clash with my dress? What color tie/vest should they wear (my bridesmaids are in a gunmetal gray)? Thanks so much for your help!

I am getting married for the first time at 44 years old and it is my fiance's second marriage. I thought I would go with a simple ivory slip dress; however, my mom and I went out today and I fell in love with a more traditional ivory, strapless gown with a train. My mom loved it too. Would it be appropriate for me to wear that?

In May of 2005, my oldest nephew passed away suddenly due to complications from a viral infection. My brother and his family live on the west coast (I'm in the mid-west) so I wasn't able to "be there" for my them as much as I would have liked. I would really like to use my wedding as an opportunity to honor my nephew's memory in a special/creative manner but am at a loss on ideas. I want more than a brief "in memory of..." entry in the program but don't want a depressing monologue during the ceremony either. Do you have any suggestions for something in-between? Thank you!

My mother's Sunday school class wants to give her a lingerie shower for her upcoming wedding. My mom has 3 problems with this - one, she doesn't want them to know her size; two, she doesn't wear lingerie; and three, she's not entirely comfortable with her Sunday school group buying her lingerie.
What is the best way to decline a shower?

My daughter is getting married in May '08. Her bridesmaids will be wearing sea blue raw silk dresses and her dress is ivory. It is a formal evening wedding, but she really likes the look of the traditional "morning suit" (grey pinstripe pant w/gray tails jacket and ascot). Would it be okay to wear this at night, or is that a major no-no?

To make a very long story short, my fiance's family does not like or approve of me as their future daughter-in-law. My fiance was not very close with his family before "the fall-out" and this has only made the situation worse. It has gotten to the point that he doesn't even want to invite them to the wedding and would rather elope than deal with it!
I don't agree and feel that his family should be included, for a number of reasons. I also have VERY strong objections to a destination wedding since most of my family/friends couldn't afford it (including my 2 closest friends who are both bridesmaids).
So...do you have any advice on how to handle this touchy situation? When it comes to my finance's extended family, how do I go about getting names/addressess/info, etc from his mom, who currently doesn't want anything to do with me? Any tips on how to include them without allowing them to ruin our day with snide comments, etc?
