I am getting married at the end of September at a winery outside of Philadelphia. The ceremony/cocktail hour is outside and then there will be a sit down dinner and reception inside. My mom found out that I (the groom) will be wearing a tan suit and is not happy about it. She thinks it is inappropriate for me to get married in a tan suit. My bride to be does not feel that the dress can be changed at this time because she planned other elements around the tan suit. What do you think about me getting married in a tan suit?

Isn't the engagement party typically for close friends and relatives? We have been invited to an engagement party for an acquaintance that we see on Sundays but certainly not a close friend. Also the invitation was received two weeks before the event and we were instructed to RSVP ASAP. Why should their poor planning result in an emergeny response on our part?

A former acquaintance called out of the blue and upon finding out I was getting married asked if he could come. Put on the spot I agreed. Since then, he has called incessantly and has left a voicemail professing his love. I and my fiancee are now very uncomfortable having him attend, but my parents are adament I cannot uninvite him because he is traveling from out of town. What is the best way to handle this?

My fiance and I have been invited to the wedding reception for the daughter of his boss--early October--in Maine--after 5:00 p.m.. This is the first time I'll meet them and want to make a favorable impression. The reception is at a country club--but not black tie. Can I wear a medium red suit, skirt falling in the middle of the knee, with a belt that has a small "diamond" belt buckle (matches the suit color). The suit is tailored to fit me--I'm a size 2--BTW I'm 48. My fiancee is wearing a deep gray suit with shades of gray for shirt and tie.

My daughter is getting married in Aug 2009. Her dress is an ivory beaded Lazaro gown. The bridesmaids will be wearing long dresses in an eggplant/dark purple color. The flowers will be deep red and plum/purple with accents of chartreuse green and orange.
We plan to have the Groom and Groomsmen wear black tuxes since the Bride's gown is formal, but have no idea what to select for shirt, vest and tie, etc. We'd greatly appreciate your advice!
I'm also curious what you would suggest for boutonnieres?

my fieance and i will be married on september 27th of this year, we have invited 21 immeadiate family guests plus each of our one best friend who will happen to be our maid of honor and best man, the only other two in the ceremony. to split up the cost we want to have a HUGE,,, RECEPTION AND DANCE IN ONE YEAR...THAT WE WANT ALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY AT!!! we have two children, a house, a harley and a dog in common over the last ten years of our relationship... we want to announce the wedding with out hurting feelings but how and when are the questions...
furthermore my mother would like to throw me a bridal shower but the how and when... when theese people can not actually come to the very intimate wedding... THIS SEPTEMBER, BUT OF COURSE WILL BE INVITED TO THE RECEPTION IN SEPT 2009... PLEASE HELP!
